Use context clues to guess the meaning of words that you dont know. You can still get the gist or main idea of the paragraph with a loose translation. #4) As you read, highlight or underline key words that might be important to the meaning of the story. #5) To avoid feeling overwhelmed, try to focus on reading one paragraph at a time. #6) After each paragraph make a mental note or write a note in the margin about the main idea of the paragraph. #7) Ask yourself after concluding the reading – what was the authors purpose?
