8 Renewable Resources in Gran Canaria I.E.S. Nueva Isleta “Tony Gallardo” In the Canary Islands there are a plethora of resources, but the ones that could harvest a lot energy are the solar and wind energies.

15 THE FUTURE… Gran Canaria Local Authority and the Canaries Government are planning to build the biggest hydroelectric power plant of the islands (next four years) Capital investment: 200M€ Power: 320 MW It would provide up to 50% of the total energy used in the island.
