Our public copyright licenses incorporate a unique and innovative “three- layer” design.
Taken together, these three layers of licenses ensure that the spectrum of rights isn’t just a legal concept. It’s something that the creators of works can understand, their users can understand, and even the Web itself can understand.

CC licensed works are represented in three ways
first, there’s a human readable deed that simplifies the terms of each license into a few universal icons and non-technical language you may recognize the CC icons and logo on the internet

second, there’s the lawyer-readable legal text, which has been vetted by a global team of legal experts CC licenses are enforceable in a court
