Spanish is also different from English because there are many ways to say “the” in Spanish. El (masculino singular) La (femenina singular Los (masculino plural Las (femenina plural) index

Usually a noun is masculine if it ends in… o and feminine if it ends in… a However, when a word ends in any other letter (z, e, r, etc.) you need to memorize the definite article with the noun.
