1 Definite & indefinite articles The articles el, la, los & las are definite articles and mean “the” when translated into English. Use these when talking about something in specific. María tiene el libro - Maria has the book.

2 Indefinite articles Masculinefeminine singularununa pluralunosunas Indefinite articles: a/an or some The articles un, una, unos & unas are indefinite articles and mean “a” or “an” when translated into English. Use these when talking about an item that is not specific. Juan tiene un lápiz. - Juan has a pencil.

3 The difference between the two is that one is more specific than the other. When using indefinite articles any item will do. When using definite article you are talking about that specific one. – El gato=the cat – Una galleta=a cookie

4 adjectives When using adjectives to describe a noun remember the following rules: 1.Adjectives come after the noun they describe 2.They must match the noun in gender and in number. FOR EXAMPLE: los lápices amarillos, unos ojos azules, las manos moradas, una cabeza anaranjada 3.To make words plural add –s if the word ends in a vowel or –es if it ends with a consonant. 4.If the word ends with a z, change it to a “c” then add –es: Nariz-narices

5 Sentence formula Subject (Mi monstruo) + verb (tiene) + number or article + noun (body part)+ adjective (color) Mi monstruo tiene una cabeza azul. Mi monstruo tiene cinco dedos amarillos. Mi monstruo tiene cuatro cabezas moradas.
