U SING S ER IN THE N EGATIVE FORM. (3 RD PERSON ) In Spanish to make the sentence negative you add “no” before the verb ser. For example: He is not tall. Él no es alto. She is not short. Ella no es baja. You are not red head. Usted no es pelirrojo. He is not artistic. Él no es artístico. She is not athletic. Ella no es atlética.

U SING S ER IN THE N EGATIVE FORM. (3 RD PERSON ) When you want to say he/she/you are not but you are something else you use “pero” For example: She is not short but is tall. F IND THE F ICTION You will write down three sentences describing a classmate using the negative form of ser as well as “pero” and two sentences have to be true and one is false. When you read your sentences aloud you will say the classmate you are speaking about and we will guess which sentence is fake!

B OARD RACE GAME You will be told a sentence in English and will race to write the translation on the whiteboard using the negative form of ser in the 1 st and 3 rd person. The first team to have it written down correctly wins a point!

F AN – N - P ICK You will each be given two playing cards with images of different people and will take turns with your partner to pick a card and describe that person using the negative form of ser and “but” in Spanish. For Example: Ella no es rubia, pero es morena. Ella no es alta, pero es baja.
