Questions in Spanish always begin with an inverted question mark (¿). 1

To form a question: * In Spanish, the verb comes before the subject. ¿ Pintas tú en la clase de arte? Do you paint in art class? 2

Double No: When the answer to a question is negative, the word no appears twice. It appears at the beginning of the sentence and also in front of the verb. ¿Hablas tú inglés? No, yo no hablo inglés. Do you speak English? No, I don´t speak English. 3

Subject changes: If the subject of the question is either tú or Ud., the subject in the answer will be the yo form. ¿Hablas tú español? Sí, yo hablo español. 4

If the subject of the question is either vosotros or Uds., the subject in the answer will be in the nosotros form. ¿Hablan Uds. inglés? Sí, nosotros hablamos inglés. 5

Subjects and verbs stay the same when they are in the 3 rd person singular or plural. For example, ¿Baila ella? Sí, ella baila.No, ella no baila. ¿Bailan ellos? Sí, ellos bailan. No, ellos no bailan. 6
