VERBS n A verb usually names the action in a sentence. n We call the verb that ends in -r the INFINITIVE

VERBS n The INFINITIVE is the form you would find in a Spanish dictionary. n In English it means: – “to + (verb)”

These are some INFINITIVES you already know: n Enseñar n Estudiar n Hablar n Bailar n Cantar n Dibujar n Escuchar n Esquiar n Jugar n Montar n Nadar n Pasar tiempo n Patinar n And several more!

IN SPANISH: n The last letter or letters of the verb tell you who does the action.

IN SPANISH: n To change an INFINITIVE to a form that tells who is doing the action, remove the -ar and add the appropriate ending.

n This action is called CONJUGATION n Conjugation is simple, just follow these 2 rules: 1.Drop –ar ending (left with the stem) 2. Add the correct ending

STEM / ENDING n NOTE: –For every INFINITIVE in Spanish there is a STEM and an ENDING.

STEM / ENDING n For example, for “estudiar,”… –”estudi” is the stem. –“ar” is the ending.

THE VOSOTROS n Recuerdo: –Verb forms ending in áis, such as estudiáis, are used in the country of Spain only.
