In English negative words include: no, not, never, nobody, nothing, none, no one, etc. We do NOT combine 2 negatives in English. Ex: No one is here. (we don’t say “not nobody is here) Nothing happened yesterday afternoon. (we don’t say “not nothing happened…”) However, in Spanish we DO repeat the negatives, in other words, we have double negatives…..

How do we use the negatives in a sentence? ¿Cómo usamos el negativo? En español muchas veces REPETIMOS PALABRAS NEGATIVAS en una frase. Ejm: ¿Quieres comer algo? No, no quiero comer nada. OR, another way we can say it in Spanish is: Nada quiero comer.
Reglas (rules) Affirmative words usually come before the main verb. In questions they may come after. Negative words may come before or after the verb. If they come after, we MUST use “no” before the verb.
