Several phrases are used to compare things. Here are some examples of how we use them. Más que= More than El fútbol es más interesante que el fútbol americano. Soccer is more interesting than football. Menos que= less than El tenis es menos divertido que el baloncesto. Tennis is less fun/entertaining than basketball. Tan…como…= as…as El béisbol es tan popular como el hockey Baseball is as popular as hockey.

These phrases are also used to compare things. Más que= more than Me gusta bailar más que cantar. I like to dance more than (I like to) sing. Menos que = less than Me gustan los lunes menos que los viernes I like Monday’s less than Friday’s. Tanto como= as much as A ella le gusta jugar al voleibol tanto como al tenis. She likes to play volleyball as much as tennis

When you talk about numbers you use más de or menos de Más de treinta personas están en la fiesta. More than 30 people are at the party. Vamos a salir en menos de cinco minutos We are leaving in less than five minutes. Translate: La clase de español es más divertido que matemáticas. Spanish class is more fun than math.

There are a few irregular comparative words: Mayor= oldermenor= younger Mejor= betterpeor= worse Yo tengo un hermano mayor. I have an older brother. El futbol es mejor que el hockey. Soccer is better than hockey. La pizza es peor que la hamburguesa. Pizza is worse than the hamburger

Traducir Carlos is taller than Miguel. Carlos es más alto que Miguel. Science class is less interesting than Spanish class. La clase de ciencias es menos interesante que la clase de español. She is as funny as I (me). Ella es tan cómica como yo. I am more fun than her. Hamburgers are bigger than sandwiches. Las hamburguesas son más grandes que los sandwiches.
