In English… We do this all the time! For example… – Would you like the green shirt or the blue one? In the sentence above, we aren’t repeating what the item is, we are noting the color difference. We do the same thing below: – I tried on the silk pants but I liked the leather ones better.

When do you use adjectives as nouns? When you are comparing two similar things, you can avoid repetition by dropping the noun and just use an article with an adjective. Instead of saying: ¿Cuál prefieres, la sudadera apretada o la floja? ADJECTIVES AS NOUNS TRANSLATE TO: “adjective one”. Like, “yellow one”, “loose one”, “ugly one”, “outrageous one”…. “la amarilla”, “el flojo”, “el feo”, “la exagerada”. sudadera
