El complemento directo Direct Object Pronouns (DOP)

Tells: who or what receives the action of the verb.  Yo hablo español.  Nosotros bebemos agua.  Ella nos habla.**

DOPs =  Replace the original noun  Agree in number and gender (singular/plural, masculine/femenine)  Usually come right before the verb

Singular Plural  me -me  te-you  lo-him, it, you (formal)  la-her, it, you (formal)  nos-us  os-you all  los-them (M), you all (formal)  las-them (F), you all (formal)

Ejemplos: ¿Haces la tarea? -Sí, yo la hago. ¿Hablamos a ellos? -Sí, los hablamos. ***Mixed group = use los!!

DOP’s with Present Progressive  Placement:  1. Before Estar  Ella me está ayudando. (She is helping me.) 2. After (attached to) –ando/-iendo 2. After (attached to) –ando/-iendo  - Add an accent when you add a syllable! (3 syllables from the end= accent.)  Me estoy lavando las manos.  Me estoy lavándolas.

DOP placement  1. Before a conjugated verb.  ¿Tienes el libro de historia?  Si, lo tengo. 2. Attached to an infinitive (or present progressive form) 2. Attached to an infinitive (or present progressive form) Van a limpiar el garaje. Van a limpiarlo.
