Present tense Yo hablo means: Yo como means: HABLAR COMER I speak I am speaking Yo como means: I eat I am eating

The Present Progressive We use the present progressive tense when we want to emphasize that something is happening right now. Example: What are you doing? Right now, I am speaking.

The Present Progressive: 2 PARTS I am speaking. You are writing. He is listening. She is playing soccer. We are running. They are playing. You all are singing. Mr. Zimmer is walking. The Present Progressive: Stem changers and Leer Stem changing verbs & go verbs do not get the stem change if you use present progressive. Examples: Ella está volviendo Él está jugando Yo estoy haciendo la tarea Leer is the 1 big exception Yo estoy leiendo – INCORRECT Yo estoy leyendo Why? 3 vowels next to each other is hard to pronounce and really weird to look at  Remember - 99% of the time, we use present tense only; present progressive is only used to emphasize what is happening right now.
