Direct Object Pronouns cont… The DOP is placed BEFORE the conjugated verb!! Example: Quiero la camisa azul. La quiero. La tienda vende los pantalones azules. La tienda los vende.

Direct Object Pronouns cont… When there is a conjugated verb + infinitive, the DOP can be placed BEFORE the conjugated verb OR can be ATTACHED to the infinitive! Quiero llevar los pantalones. Los quiero llevar. OR Quiero llevarlos.

Práctica con DOPs 1) Ella quiere facturar el equipaje. = Ella quiere facturarlo. OR Lo quiere facturar. 2) Ellos van a hacer la maleta. = Ellos van a hacerla. OR Ellos la van a hacer. 3) Quiero comprar el boleto ahora. = Quiero comprarlo ahora. OR Lo quiero comprar ahora.

Indirect Object NOUNS Nouns that answer the questions to whom? or for whom? about the verb Indirect Object Pronouns (IOPs) take the place of these Indirect object NOUNS!

TO / FOR me = me (may) TO / FOR You (informal) = te TO / FOR You (form) = le TO / FOR Him = le TO / FOR Her = le TO / FOR It (singular/masc) = le TO / FOR Us = nos TO / FOR Ya’ll (Spain) = os TO / FOR Ya’ll (masc) =les TO / FOR Them (masc) = les TO / FOR Them (fem) = les Indirect Object Pronouns

JUST LIKE DOPs!!!! The IOP is placed BEFORE the conjugated verb!! Mamá les da el dinero. Mi hermana les vende el coche.

AGAIN, JUST LIKE DOPs When there is a conjugated verb + infinitive, the DOP can be placed BEFORE the conjugated verb OR can be ATTACHED to the infinitive! Le voy a vender mi coche. O Voy a venderle mi coche.

The IOP must accompany the noun it modifies or replace the noun. Por ejemplo: Mom gives José & Ana the money. Mamá les da el dinero a José y Ana. Mamá les da el dinero.

Por ejemplo… El hombre da la maleta a mi padre. To whom does the man give the suitcase? To HIM IOP Ella compra los boletos para mi hermana. For whom does she buy the ticket? For HER IOP

Práctica – Write each sentence and label the DO and the IO 1. La agente de viajes vende los boletos a ti. 2. Nosotros damos la tarjeta de embarque a la agente. 3. La agente confirma el vuelo para mí. DO IO
