El Presente del Progresivo (Repaso)  There are 2 parts to the Progressive Tense: 1) Estar 2) the ending  ando  iendo  yendo  We use the progressive to express the English “--ing”

1) Estar  Conjuga “estar” a la forma correcta  *For the progressive tense you can conjugate “estar” in the present or the imperfect (but not the preterit) estoy / estabaestamos / estábamos estás / estabasestáis / estabais está / estabaestán / estaban

“No”  If you want to say that someone is “not” doing something, the “no” goes in front of “estar”  Yo no estoy hablando.  Ellas no están patinando.

Los Verbos de Sandalia  There is a stem-change in the progressive form for verbs that are sandals in the preterit  The same change in the preterit occurs in the progressive…  Pedir (e  i) pidiendo  Dormir (o  u) durmiendo

Los Reflexivos  Remember that you generally put the reflexive pronoun in front of the verb  If there are 2 verbs (as in the progressive tense), you can put it at the beginning or attach it to the end of the 2 nd verb  Make sure you remember to add the necessary accents

Los Acentos  If you add a pronoun to the end of the progressive the accent will go on… The “a” of ando: ándo The “e” of iendo: iéndo The “e” of yendo: yéndo

Los Reflexivos  Asustarse de  Yo me estoy asustando de la película.  Yo estoy asustándome de la película.  Yo me estaba asustando de la película.  Yo estaba asustándome de la película.

Práctica  I am hiding myself.  She is apologizing.  We were behaving well.  Estoy escondiéndome. Me estoy escondiendo  Ella se está disculpando. Ella está disculpándose  Nos estábamos portando bien. Estábamos portándonos bien.
