4  Presente Progresivo  Present progressive  Used for action that is happening at the moment  In English, it would be:  To be + Verb + -ing  Ex. I am eating.  In Spanish:  Estar + Verb  Estoy hablar  Estoy comer  Drop the –er/-ir or –ar  Estoy habl-  Estoy com-  Add –ando or –iendo  Estoy hablando  Estoy comiendo  I am talking; I am eating

5  -ando  -ando is used only for -ar verbs  Ex.  Bailar =  Jugar =  Caminar =  Estudiar =  Escuchar =  Cantar =  Sacar =  -iendo  -iendo is used for –ir/-er verbs  Ex.  Comer =  Vivir =  Salir =  Ver =  Correr =  Crecer =  Fingir = Jugando Bailando Caminando Estudiando Escuchando Cantando Sacando Corriendo Viviendo Saliendo Viendo Comiendo Creciendo Fingiendo REMEMBER! Most verbs will be conjugated this way!!

6  Irregular present progressive  Of course, there are always irregulars  If the verb has two vowels in a row, and end in –ir or –er, they will have a spell change  The –iendo turns into - yendo  Eg.  Creer  Creyendo  Caer  Cayendo  Oir  Oyendo  Leer  Leyendo

7  More irregular present progressive  If the verb is stem- changing, and ends in –ir, it will be irregular.  You will keep the stem- change, but get rid of the “e” that is part of the stem-change.  Eg.  Dormir = duermo  Duermiendo NO!!  Drop the ‘e’  Durmiendo Sí!!  Servir = sirvo  Sirviendo Sí!!  There is no ‘e’ in this stem- change  Sentir = siento  Sientiendo NO!!  Drop the ‘e’  Sintiendo Sí!!
