ENGLISH WORK: ABOUT GIBRALTAR BY IKRAM HEJJAJ

GIBRALTAR: Gibraltar is a British overseas territory under the sovereignty of the United Kingdom. It was handed to Britain in the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. Gibraltar is located east of the Bay of Algeciras and extends over the geological formation of the rock of Gibraltar. It has a population of about 30,000 inhabitants in an area of less than 7 km ², based on a service sector economy.

BILINGUALISM: It took place a research on the habits and attitudes of young Gibraltarians. The results confirmed that the Spanish used more in informal interactions among family, neighbors and friends. Moreover, English is used in the educational context, especially when students are directed to teachers.

PLACES TO VISIT IN GIBRALTAR: You can visit the so-called Great Siege Tunnels. → And related to the city you can visit the Gibraltar Museum. → Well known in the area is the Gibraltar Botanic Gardens, located in the Grand Parade. → Right on the road in Europe, from the Rock Hotel, is located the luxurious Casino of Gibraltar. → Lo que más llama la atención de Gibraltar es la gran roca que la simboliza. También se puede incluir la visita a la Reserva Natural de la Roca, desde la cual se pueden ver magníficas visitas de las costas de África, el Mediterráneo y el Atlántico, la Cueva de San Miguel etc. Se pueden visitar los llamados Túneles del Gran Asedio. Y relacionadas con la ciudad se puede visitar el Museo de Gibraltar (situado en el centro de la ciudad). También muy conocido en la zona es el Jardín Botánico de Gibraltar, situado en el Grand Parade. Justo en la carretera de Europa, desde el Rock Hotel, se halla el lujoso Casino de Gibraltar.

MOST HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN GIBRALTAR: Despite not being too large , the area has important architectural remains worthy to behold. For example :  Casemates Gate , which leads to the pretty Casemates Square .  The official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar from 1728 is known as the Convent .  On Main Street is the Cathedral of St. Mary the Crowned .  Entering Gibraltar is one of the first landmarks , the Castle of Muslim origin. A pesar de n o ser un lugar demasiado grande, la zona tiene importantes vestigios arquitectónicos dignos de contemplar. Por ejemplo: Las puertas y fortificaciones de Gibraltar son un recuerdo constante del pasado militar de la ciudad. La Puerta de Casamatas, que nos lleva a la bonita plaza de Casamatas. La residencia oficial del Gobernador de Gibraltar desde 1728 se le conoce como el Convento. En Main Street se encuentra la Catedral de Santa María la Coronada. Al entrar en Gibraltar se encuentra uno de los primeros monumentos históricos, el Castillo de origen musulmán. En la parte superior de Main Street se encuentra el Cementerio de Trafalgar, que alberga a los soldados fallecidos en la batalla de Trafalgar. El conocido como Fondeadero de Nelson es el antiguo puerto de Gibraltar, construido por los españoles en 1627, se puede denominar como un monumento histórico. También se encuentra la Gran Sinagoga.
