Bucalo, Davies, Geyer, Nelson February Our students are working on writing a personal narrative based upon a memory in the snow. They are enjoying brainstorming and recalling all of the events of their fun filled snow days! We recently took the middle of year writing sample to help them prepare for the writing STAAR. We are continuing our spelling practice by using fourth grade level spelling words with spelling activities going home nightly. Please encourage your students to practice these words nightly. 4 th Grade Happenings Math Writing Word Work Reading In reading class we are exploring the different genres of books and poetry. We are comparing and contrasting fiction to non fiction, and poetry to drama. We have been focusing on reading biographies from different points of view about Martin Luther King Jr. The students are enjoying learning a lot about his life and his work with the civil rights movement We have finished our fraction unit and will be learning about units of measurement. Our students are expected to be able to measure length, and convert units of measurement. Science We are learning about taking care of our natural resources. We will study the natural patterns found in our world and then begin learning about inherited traits. Social Studies In social studies we are so excited to be learning about the Alamo and the people who helped Texas become who she is today. We have read about the battles of San Jacinto and Goliad as well as famous heroes such as Stephen F. Austin and William B. Travis REMINDER: It is an expectation of 4 th grade and Florence Hill that your child’s agenda be signed every night. Please help us by checking and initialing your child’s agenda. It is a way for you to know what your child is learning and to ask them questions. Thank you for helping us!

Ciencias Estamos aprendiendo a conservar recursos naturales.
