2 WELCOME! !BIENVENIDOS! My name is Ms. Barba and I am your child’s teacher This is my Fifth year at Potrero. Soy la Señorita Barba maestra de su hijo/a Este es mi quinto año aquí en la escuela Potrero.

3 WELCOME! !BIENVENIDOS! I’m happy to see all of you here this evening because this tells me you care about your child’s education. It’s essential that we become partners in your child’s education. Me da gusto verlos aquí, porque eso significa que ustedes le dan importancia a la educación de sus hijos. Para que sus hijos tengan éxito, necesitamos ser socios en este negocio de la educación.

4 What are the teacher’s expectations? ?Que espero de sus hijos? I expect your child to:  Follow the rules.  Turn in all assignments and homework on time.  Give their best effort.  Come to school prepared and ready to learn. Necesito que sus hijos:  Obedezcan las reglas.  Entreguen la tarea completa y a tiempo.  Hagan su mejor esfuerzo.  Vengan a clase preparados para aprender.

5 What are the teacher’s expectation of parents? ? Que espera la maestra de los padres? I expect you to: Check that your child has completed homework. Ask them about what they learned today. Provide a quiet learning space for homework. Make your child read 30 minutes daily. Make sure your child has breakfast everyday and goes to bed by 9:30p.m. Necesito que ustedes: Revisen que la tarea este completa. Pregúntenles a sus hijos que aprendieron hoy. Aseguren un lugar sin distracciones para que sus hijos hagan su tarea. Hagan que sus hijos lean por treinta minutos diarios. Asegúrense que sus hijos tomen desayuno diario y que se acuesten por lo menos a las 9:30p.m.

6 What will my child be doing this year? ?Que va a lograr mi hijo este año? 7 th Grade Language Arts Anchor Standards  Reading stories and books.  Writing various types of essays.  Grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.  Analyzing various types of documents and information  Thinking a lot! Normas de lectura y escritura de septimo grado Leer y comprender cuentos y libros. Escribir varios tipos de ensayos. Entender y aplicar las reglas de gramática. Analizar varios tipos de información y documentos Pensando bastante

7 HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS REGLAS DE LA TAREA YOUR CHILD WILL HAVE HOMEWORK EVERY DAY! Your child will write the homework assignment down everyday on his/her agenda. Homework is to be turned in on time! Homework is to be done neatly. Poor quality work will not be accepted. ! SUS HIJOS TENDRAN TAREA DIARIO! En sus calendarios tendrán que escribir sus deberes del día. La tarea se debe entregar a tiempo. La tarea se debe hacer con cuidado. Si no esta bien hecha no se aceptara.

8 How will my child be graded? ? Como será calificado mi hijo? Your child will have several opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of the anchor standards through assessments along the learning process. Su hijo/a tendrá varias oportunidades para demostrar su comprensión de las normas de anclaje a través de evaluaciones a lo largo del proceso de aprendizaje.
