Attendance The bell rings at 8:05am. If your child is not in class by 8:10am, they are TARDY! Absences and Tardiness do effect school work.

Asistencia La campana suena a las 8:05am. Si su hijo no esta en el salón a las 8:10am, ha llegado tarde! No venir a la escuela o llegar tarde afecta el aprendizaje de su hijo.

We have a lot going on during the day! Check in/ Morning work is from 8:05 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Homework Check/Problem Solving/Facts Practice is taught from 8:30 a.m.- 9 a.m. Language Arts/Reading is taught from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Lunch/ Recess from 11:30 a.m. to 12:10p.m.

Common Core Curriculum This year the majority of the U.S. has approved and adopted the Common Core Standards into the curriculum. Students will be doing much more listening and speaking. Students will be taking a new type of test called PARCC in the future which is all computer based.

Language Arts In 4 th grade your child will be learning the following in Language Arts… ABC order, Reference books, grammar, informational text, and much more.

Lenguaje En Lenguaje de cuarto año su hijo aprenderá lo siguiente Orden alfabético, libros de referencia, gramática, como usar información de la vida común, y mucho mas.

Spelling Your child will have Spelling words each week. They will get a new list every MONDAY! Please make sure your child is studying their words EVERY NIGHT!!

Ortografía Cada semana, su hijo tendrá palabras nuevas de ortografía. Ellos recibirán una lista nueva cada LUNES. Asegúrense por favor de que su hijo(a) las estudia CADA NOCHE.

Reading We are using the Daily 5/CAFÉ model Students choose their own reading material (w/teacher help if needed) for their reading pleasure. (IPICK) Teachers are able to have individual, small group, and whole group instruction There are also language arts components to the program (word work, work on writing) Students also have opportunities to read to others and listen to someone read to them.

Lectura Este año estamos usando el método de Daily 5 Los estudiantes escogen los libros que quieren leer (con ayuda del maestro si es necesario) para que disfruten su lectura. (IPICK) El maestro puede tener instrucción individual, de grupos pequeños, o grupos completos.. Tambien estan los componentes del lenguaje en el programa. (trabajo de vocabulario, trabajo en escritura) Estudiantes también tienen la oportunidad de leerle a otros y escuchar a alguien leer.

Math Math is 1 hour and 30 minutes long every day. 1 hour is done in math class and the other 30 minutes is facts practice and problem solving. Math homework is assigned every night except Fridays.

Matemáticas Matemáticas es por una hora y 30 minutos diariamente. 1 hora es para la clase de matemáticas y los otros 30 minutos son para practicar los factores y resolver los problemas.. Todos los días tienen tarea de matemáticas excepto lo viernes.

Tiempos Extras En 4to grado iremos a los siguientes programas de extra currículo. Educación Especial Música Biblioteca Computadoras

Homework We give homework everyday except Friday*. Please sign your child’s planner nightly. Each Monday they will fill out their planner for the week.

Tarea Damos tarea todos los días excepto el viernes*. Por favor firme la agenda de su hijo cada noche. Cada lunes llenan su agenda para toda la semana.

Homework If your child doesn’t complete homework they can lose the following… Fun Friday time Recess A grade for that assignment.

Tarea Si su hijo no trae o termina la tarea pueden perder… Tiempo del viernes divertido Recreo La calificación para esa tarea.

Fun Friday Class work and Homework must be finished prior to Fun Friday, if not it will be completed in class during that time.

Viernes Divertido Todo el trabajo y tarea debe de estar terminada antes de que puedan participar en el viernes divertido. Si no, entonces se terminara durante ese tiempo.

Communication We can send notes home in planners or . We also make phone calls home if needed. Please make sure your child’s teacher and the office have current numbers for you.

Comunicación Podemos mandar notas a casa en las agendas o en el correo electronico. Tambien hacemos llamadas telefonicas a casa si es necesario. Por favor asegurense de que el/la maestro(a) de su hijo(a) y la oficina tienen sus numeros de telefono mas recientes

Donations Thank you to all that have donated already. We always need tissues, hand sanitizer, cups, antibacterial wipes for tables and baby wipes for hands.

Donaciones Gracias por todas las donaciones que han hecho hasta hoy. Siempre estamos necesitando kleenex, desinfectante de manos, vasos, toallitas desinfectantes para mesas y para las manos.

Celebrations We don’t mind if you bring goodies to celebrate birthdays, but there are a few things to keep in mind… Please let your child’s teacher know ahead of time that you are bringing something. Goodies will be given out after lunch time but keep in mind some classes are not in their classrooms after 2:10 p.m. Students cannot have treats in library, music, computers, P.E., etc… so please plan accordingly. Please let teachers know at least a day in advance if you are planning on bringing something in. No balloons please!

Celebraciones No nos molesta que traigan algo para compartir para celebrar cumpleaños, pero hay ciertas cosas que tenemos que tomar en cuenta. Con tiempo, por favor haganle saber al/la maestro(a) de su hijo)a si van a traer algo. Los bocadillos seran dados despues del lonche, pero por favor recuerden que algunas de las clases no estan en su salones despues de las 2:10 p.m. Los estudiantes no pueden tener los bocadillos en la biblioteca, musica, computadoras, etc., etc… asi que planeenlo de acuerdo a este horario. Por favor dejenle saber al/la maestro(a) por adelantado si planean traer algo. No traigan globos por favor.

Upcoming Events Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up. They will be held on the August 28th and 29th. Be on the look at for the sign up slip, it is first come first serve for times. See you there!!!

Eventos por venir Las Conferencias de Padres y Maestros ya vienen. Estas seran el 28 y 29 de agosto. Muy pronto se enviara un papel a casa para que escoja que mejor le convenga. Los primeros en regresarlo tendran mejor posibilidad de tener su horario. Nos vemos ese día!!!
