Let’s recap…. There are 2 kinds of articles (in English) definite (the) indefinite (a an) (the car, a house, an apple) There are 2 kinds of articles/artículos (in Spanish) definite/definido (el, los, la, las) indefinite/indefinido (un, una, unos, unas)
Gender; -el amigo -la amiga -el refresco -la pizza ALL nouns have gender (feminine or masculine) Most nouns that end in –o are masculine Most nouns that end in -a are feminine Some examples; -el amigo -la amiga -el refresco -la pizza What do the masculine words have in common? What if... Nouns end in -sión, -ción, -dad, or -tad? la televisión la conversación la ciudad la libertad Which gender do you think they belong to??? Hint: look at the beginning of the word…

Exceptions; You should learn the article because that will tell you the gender of the noun. Some examples la corbata el vestido Just look at the article, it will tell you the gender.
