El verbo gustar

The verb gustar is used to talk about things that you or someone else likes to do. Gustar translates to ____ is pleasing to me in English. I like to swim. Swimming is pleasing to me.

Indirect Object Pronouns Gustar always takes an indirect object pronoun. Indirect object pronouns: menos te leles Me gusta patinar.

Prepositional Phrases Prepositional phrases are also used with the verb gustar whenever you use a persons name. Prepositional phrases: a mía nosotros a ti a éla ellos a ellaa ellas a usteda ustedes A Roberto le gusta montar en monopatín.

Conjugating gustar Conjugation for gustar is different from that of many of the verbs you have learned. When you are talking about one ITEM OR ACTIVITY, use gusta, the singular form of gustar. When you are talking about more than one ITEM OR ACTIVITY, use gustan, the plural form of gustar. Te gusta escuchar música. A ellos les gusta bailar. A mí me gustan las clases.

Negatives Add a no in front of the indirect object pronoun and verb to express dislike. You can also add words like nada, en absoluto, and para nada behind the verb to express strong dislike. No me gusta ir a la escuela para nada. A ellas no les gusta hacer ejercicio nada.
