Review of Adjective/Noun Agreement Leccion Preliminar

Remember that adjectives describe nouns. Like articles, they match the gender and number of the nouns they describe. In Spanish, adjectives usually follow the noun.  Feminine adjectives usually end in –a- –La chica guapa, las chicas guapas, la chica fenomenal Las chicas fenomenales  Masculine adjectives usually end in –o- –El chico guapo, los chicos guapos, el chico fenomenal –Los chicos fenomenales  To make a noun/adjective plural. –Add –s- if it ends in a vowel. –Add –es- if it ends in a consonant.

Translate the following phrases.  The handsome boy / The handsome boys.  El chico guapo./ Los chicoos guapos.  The pretty girl / The pretty girls  La chica bonita/ Las chicas bonitas  The smart teachers (m)/ The smart teachers (f)  Los maestroos inteligentes. Las maestraas inteligentes.

Translate the following sentences.  You are tall.  Tú eres alto (a).  We (mixed) are nice.  Nosotros somos simpáticos  The short girls are intelligent.  Las chicas bajas son inteligentes  Some good-looking boys are lazy.  Unos chicos guapos son perezosos.
