Both verbs ponerse and decir are irregular in the preterite. They have irregular stems and irregular endings. What’s easy about them is that they almost have the same endings. See if you can see where they differ. Ponerse also shares irregular preterite endings with tener, venir, and estar. Memorize these endings!

Ponerse can be followed by an ________ word. (example: contenta, nerviosa, triste).
