What is ELD? ELD stands for English Language Development and is a class that aims to assist ANY and ALL students on campus whose primary language is not English. ELD significa Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés y es una clase que ayuda a CUALQUIER y TODOS los estudiantes en el campus cuando el idioma principal no es inglés.
What is the ELPAC? The ELPAC is a test that is given to English Learners to determine whether or not they are ready to be placed in college ready classes. Students must score a 4 or 5 on the ELPAC El ELPAC es un examen que se les da a los estudiantes para determinar si están listos o no para ingresar en las clases de preparación para la universidad. Los estudiantes deben obtener un 4 o 5 en el ELPAC
Purpose of the ELPAC Initial Assessment Administered once to students whose primary language is not English for the purpose of determining whether or not the student is an English learner Se administró una vez a estudiantes cuando el idioma principal no es inglés con el fin de determinar si el alumno es un aprendiz de inglés o no. Determined via the Home Language Survey (HLS)
What does the ELPAC Test? Reading Leyendo Writing Escribiendo Listening Escuchando Speaking Hablando
To Reclassify and Get out of ELD Students MUST: Pass the ELPAC with a 4 or 5 Receive a Lexile Test Score that is the average for students in their grade or more Pass their English Class with a C or Higher Receive approval from administration.
Para Reclasificar y Salir de ELD Los estudiantes DEBEN: Pasar el ELPAC con un 4 o 5 Recibir un puntaje que es el promedio de los estudiantes en su grado o más en el examen Lexile Pasar su clase de inglés con una C o más Recibir la aprobación de la administración.
Purpose of Reclassification Reclassification changes a student’s educational trajectory by placing students on an educational track that better prepares them for college La reclasificación cambia la trayectoria educativa de un estudiante para que los estudiantes se preparen mejor para la universidad
