The passive voice in the present. Se habla Español en Venezuela. Spanish is spoken in Venezuela. Doesn’t specify who speaks Spanish. Se reparan carros aquí. Cars are repaired here. We don’t know who repairs them. No se come en el baño. One doesn’t eat in the bathroom. General statement.

The passive voice in the past is formed with the preterit of Ser and the past participle. La gravedad fue descubierta por Newton. Gravity was discovered by Newton. Los edificios fueron destruídos por terroristas. The buildings were destroyed by terrorists. El avión fue inventado por los Wright. The airplane was invented by the Wrights. El Pingüino fue captado por Batman. The Penguin was captured by Batman.
