Reflexive Verbs When using reflexive verbs to talk about parts of the body, use the definite article. (the el, la, los, las that mean “the”)

Traduce a español. I take a shower in the morning. (Yo) me ducho por la mañana. We brush our teeth. (Nosotros) nos cepillamos los dientes. They prepare themselves for the wedding. Ellos se preparan para la boda. You (pl.) wake up at 5:00 a.m. Uds. se despiertan a las cinco de la mañana.

Reflexive Pronouns They can either go before a conjugated verb or after an infinitive.

Reflexive Pronouns Me acuesto temprano. Me voy a acostar temprano. Before the conjugated verb: Me acuesto temprano. Me voy a acostar temprano. After the infinitive: Voy a acostarme temprano. Necesitas ponerte los zapatos después de cepillarte los dientes.

Traduce a español. You wash your face before going to bed. Te lavas la cara antes de acostarte. They dry off after taking a shower. Ellos se secan después de ducharse. I have to paint my nails. Tengo que pintarme las uñas. We wake up at 5:00 but (we) get up at 5:30. Nos despertamos a las cinco pero nos levantamos a las cinco y media.

Some verbs have both reflexive and non-reflexive forms and usages. El padre arregla el pelo de su hija. Ella se arregla el pelo.

La madre seca el pelo de su hija. La mujer se seca el pelo.

La madre viste a su hijo. La muchacha se viste.
