Español 1: Capítulo 4 Gramática 2: -ER and –IR conjugations in the present tense, “tag” questions

Repaso: Conjugation There are three steps to conjugating regular verbs: Find the infinitive (the uncojugated form of a verb) Drop the –AR, -ER, or –IR This leaves us with the stem Add the endings We have different endings depending on whether we start with an –AR, -ER, or –IR infinitive. We also have different endings depending on the subject that is doing the action. Remember our subjects are: Yo, Tú, Él, Ella, Usted, Nosotros, Vosotros, Ellos, Ellas, Ustedes

Repaso: Regular –AR verbs We have already learned the endings that we attach to regular –AR stems when we conjugate in the present tense: Yo Nosotros Tú Vosotros Él / ella / usted Ellos / ellas / ustedes -o -amos -as -áis -a -an

Endings for regular –ER and –IR verbs in the present tense The present tense endings for regular –ER and –IR verbs are: -ER -IR -o -emos -es -éis -e -en Yo Nosotros Tú Vosotros Él / ella / usted Ellos / ellas / ustedes -o -imos -es -ís -e -en Yo Nosotros Tú Vosotros Él / ella / usted Ellos / ellas / ustedes
