STEM-CHANGING VERBS There are some verbs in Spanish that change their root when conjugated from the infinitive These usually happen when the 2nd to last syllable in the verb is an “e” or “o” Verbs whose vowel is an “a” will NEVER be stem-changing The “e” goes to an “ie” in 4 of the six conjugations (e→ie) The “o” goes to a “ue” in 4 of the six conjugations (o→ue)
