The Lauterbrunnen valley and its villages
The Lauterbrunnen valley is located in the mountainous area of the Jungfrau region, ten kilometers from the center of Interlaken in Switzerland. This valley is perhaps one of the most spectacular of all the Alps, because it has characteristics that make it very special. It is about 15 km long, whose landscape is dominated by the two vertical walls that delimit it, by the large number of waterfalls that pass through these walls, the intense greenness produced by its thick forests and its large meadows, and the snowy mountains and furrowed with glaciers that act as a backdrop to the four villages of the valley: Lauterbrunnen, Stechelberg, Wengen and Mürren.

En la ladera este del valle, a 1274 metros, está la pintoresca y turística localidad de Wengen. Hasta ella se puede subir a pié por algún sendero procedente de Lauterbrunnen o por el tren procedente del mismo pueblo. Todas sus calles están llenas de restaurantes, tiendas, hoteles y gente en verano. En el centro del pueblo sale un teleférico que sube al mirador de Männlichen, situado a 2227 metros y que disfruta de unas vistas privilegiadas del Eiger (3970 m), Mönch (4107 m) y Jungfrau (4158 m).
Mürren, un pueblo parecido a Wengen, con restaurantes, tiendas, hoteles, casas típicas y fantásticas vistas. En el centro del pueblo, sale un teleférico que sube al mirador de Schilthorn (2960 m). Este famoso mirador tiene un restaurante, una tienda y la terraza, desde la que se contemplan unas formidables vistas de casi toda la región.
