Transcripción de la presentación:

Tener To have

Tener You use tener to say… Possession (I have a book) Relationship (I have a mom) Age (I have 16 years) Hunger (I have hunger) Thirst (I have thirst)

Tener Tener means "to have." Tener is an irregular verb. It doesn't conjugate like the regular verbs that we are familiar with.

Conjugations Yo tengo Tu tienes El/Ella/Usted tiene Nosotros tenemos Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes tienen

Example Sentences Yo tengo el juguete. Tu tienes la carne. Él/Ella/Usted tiene una piñata. Nosotros tenemos tres hermanos. Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes tienen un regalo.

Notas Tener is almost a stem changer. The one thing that keeps it from being labeled a stem changer is the conjugation in the yo form, tengo. The rest of the pronouns conjugate as a stem changing verb, e-> ie

Notas You use "tener" to say how old you are and that you are hungry. Tengo siete años. It literally translates to I have seven years. Tengo hambre. It literally translates to I have hunger.

¡Pruébalo! Escribe las frases en español: I’m 15 years old. They have the cookies. He has the computer. You’re hungry. We have Spanish with Miss Clark. How old are you?
