What is a cognate? A cognate is a word in Spanish that looks like an English word and means the same thing.

What is a false cognate? A false cognate is a word in Spanish that looks like an English word and means something completely different.

Examples: Cognates: Pingüino, elefante, serpiente, desierto, violeta, mayo, diciembre, clase, banana, música, poema, animales, insectos, frutas. False cognates: Come, hay, carpeta, nota, ropa. CAN YOU THINK OF ANY OTHERS???
