AFFIRMATIVE Subject + (am/is/are) + (base form of the verb + "ing")

I am He She is It

They We are You

NEGATIVE Subject + (am/is/are) + not + (base form of the verb + "ing")

Examples: I am cooking dinner. I am not reading the book. She is studying for her test.

Examples: He isn't working today. We're watching the game. We aren't playing soccer.

“ING” RULES Cuando el verbo base termina con "e": la "e" se cambia por el "ing". E.g.: Smile Smiling Hope Hoping

B) Cuando el verbo base es de una sílaba y termina en consonante + vocal + consonante: la consonante se dobla y se agrega el "ing". E.g.: Stop Stopping Plan Planning

C) Cuando el verbo base es de dos sílabas con el acento en la última sílaba y termina en consonante + vocal + consonante: la consonante se dobla y se agrega el "ing". E.g.: Prefer Preferring Admit Admitting

D) Cuando el verbo base termina en "ie": se cambia el "ie" por el "ying". E.g.: Die Dying Tie Tying

E) Cuando el verbo base termina en “c": se agrega “king“. E. g E) Cuando el verbo base termina en “c": se agrega “king“. E.g.: Mimic Mimicking Traffic Trafficking

EXCEPTIONS * Si el verbo base termina en dos consonantes ó dos vocales + consonante, NO se dobla la consonante y solo se agrega el "ing". E.g.: Help Helping Rain Raining

Nunca se debe doblar la "w" ni la "x". * El verbo base “be" es de las pocas excepciones que terminan en “e“ y no se cambia por el “ing“, nada mas se le agrega. E.g.: Be Being Dye Dyeing

INTERROGATION (Am/Is/Are) + subject + (base form of the verb + "ing") + ... + ?

ANSWER Is she studying for the test? Are we watching the game? Yes, she is. She is studying for the test. Are we watching the game? No, we aren't. [OPTIONAL]
