2 ¿Para qué se utiliza? Para decir lo que estamos haciendo en este mismo momento: “I’m typing this exercise on my computer now” “You are revising the present continuous at the moment” O cuando hablamos de nuestros planes futuros: “I’m playing tennis next Friday morning” O cuando estamos muy “cabreaos”: “You are always breaking my things!”

3 ¿Cómo se forma la afirmativa?
Coloca el verbo “to be” (am/is/are) + verbo en gerundio (-ing). “Susan is playing the piano in her room” “They are studying English at school” “I am surfing the Internet”

4 ¿Y la negativa? “I am not talking to you”
¡Facilísimo! Simplemente añade not al verbo “to be”. “I am not talking to you” “Susan is not playing the piano” “They are not doing their homework” La negación puede contraerse: is not  isn’t are notaren’t

5 ¿Y qué pasa con la interrogativa?
¡Aún más sencillo! Coloca “am/is/are” antes del sujeto de la oración: “Is Susan doing her homework?” “Are the children having their breakfast?” “Am I speaking to you?” “Where are the children playing?”

6 ¿Hay algo más? En ocasiones hay que doblar la consonante final del verbo en gerundio, sobre todo si éste es monosílabo y sigue la estructura consonante+vocal+consonante: starstarring zapzapping stopstopping Pero no otros: looklooking startstarting Verbos que acaban en –e: love  loving Algunos verbos que acaban en “-ie” forman su gerundio en “-ying”: lie  lying die  dying 4. No olvidar que el verbo “to be” se puede contraer: I am  I’m he is  he’s we arewe’re
