El Pretérito- Spell-Changing Verbs OBJECTIVE: TLW- Analyze verbs that have a spell change in the preterite tense. TLW also use these verbs to construct short sentences and answer questions. Some verbs have a change in the spelling in the preterite tense. (Verbs that end in –car, -gar, and –zar). This is done in order to keep the verb’s sound. The spell change will only take place in the “Yo” form of the preterite. These are the 3 types of spell changes: -car> -qué, -gar> -gué, -zar> -cé ONLY TAKES PLACE IN THE YO FORM!!!
