In order to conjugate (change) a verb to the present tense: a. STEP 1- drop the last two letters from the infinitive (basic form of the verb). All infinitives in Spanish end in either –ar, -er, or –ir. b. STEP 2-add the appropriate ending according to the subject and the type of verb (ej. if it is an –ar verb, you can only use an –ar verb ending. The same for –er and –ir verbs) An L. In order to conjugate (change) a verb to the present tense: a. STEP 1- drop the last two letters from the infinitive (basic form of the verb). All infinitives in Spanish end in either –ar, -er, or –ir. b. STEP 2-add the appropriate ending according to the subject and the type of verb (ej. if it is an –ar verb, you can only use an –ar verb ending. The same for –er and –ir verbs) An L.
