The state of aging in America/El estado del envejecimiento en America Healthy people 2020 are the national health goals for the year 2020. Gente Saludable 2020 son las metas nacionales de salud del 2020. The nation has met 6 of the 10 goals related to aging. La nacion a llegado a 6 de las 10 metas relacionado al envejecimiento.

Healthy people 2020/ Gente Saludable 2020 No leisure time physical activity in the past month (31.4% versus goal of < 32% ) No actividad fisica en el ultimo mes (31.4% versus la meta de 32%) Current smoking (8.4% versus goal of 12%) Fumador corriente (8.4% versus la meta de 12%)

Healthy People 2020/Gente Saludable 2020 Taking medications for high blood pressure (94.1% versus goal of 77.4%). Tomando medicinas para la presion alta (94.1% versus 77.4%). Mamograms within the past two years (81.9% versus goal of 70%). Mamogramos dentro de los ultimos 2 anos. Colorectal cancer screenings (72.2% versus goal of 70%). Revisiones para prevencion del cancer del colon.

Healthy People 2020/ Gente Saludable 2020 We as a nation are falling short of some goals. Nosotros estamos fallando en algunas metas nacionalmente. Flu vaccines in the past year (68.1% versus goal of 90%)Vacuna de al gripe en el ano pasado. Ever received pneumonia vaccine (68.1% versus goal of 90%). Alguna vez a recibido la vacuna de la pneumonia. Up to date on preventative services (49% versus 50%) Estar pendiente de los servicios preventativos.

State of aging in the 50 states/ El estado del evejecimiento en los 50 estados Opportunities for improving quality of life in older adults. Opportunidades para mejorar la salud de los adultos en la tercera edad. Improving mobility. Mejorando la mobilidad. Improving brain health. Mejorando la salud del cerebro.

Prestando attencion al estres mental en los adultos mayores. Paying attention to shingles vaccination rates. Prestando attencion al la vacuna de la culebrilla.

Chronic Health Conditions/ Condiciones cronicas de salud. Chronic health conditions were the leading cause of death for adults over 65 in 2007-2009. Condiciones cronicas eran la mas comun causa de muerte para adults mayor que 65 en 2007-2009. Heart disease, cancer, stroke, respiratory disease, alzheimers then diabetes. Cardiopatia, cancer, choque cerebral, alzheimers y la diabetes. Influenza and Pneuonia also contribute to deaths in people over age 65. La gripe y la pneumonia tambien contribuen a la muerte en las personas mayores de 65.

Prevention and Promotion of Health / Prevencion y promocion de la salud The recommended healthy behaviors such as not using tobacco, exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet. Las formas de ser recomendados son el no usar tabacco, ejercicio regular y comiendo una dieta sana. People who practice these behaviors decrease their risk of heart disease, cancer , diabetes and other chronic conditions. Las personsas que hacen las practicas recomendadas reducen su riesgo de cardipatias, cancer, diabetes y otras enfermedades cronicas.

Heart Disease Prevention/ Prevencion de Cardiopatias ABCS, Appriate Aspirin use, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol control and Smoking cessation. APCF uso de Aspirina, control de la Presion, control del Colesterol, parar de Fumar. These changes seek to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes over the next 5 years. Estos cambios esperan prevenir un million de ataques cardiacas y choques cerebrales durante los proximos 5 anos.

Shingles vaccine/ La vacuna de la culebrila Shingles is more common in adults over age 60, 33% of people over age 60 will get shingles. La culebrilla es mas comun en adultos mayor de 60, 33% de esta populacion va contraer la culebrilla. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that everyone over age 60 get vaccinated in 2010 only 14% did. Los Centros de Prevencion de Enfermedades (CPE) recomiendan que todos mayor de 60 se vacunan pero en 2010 solamente 14% se vacunaron.

Achievements and shortfalls/ Logros y deficiencias As a country no states have met all the targets. Como un pais ningun estado ha logrado todas las metas. All the states have met the targets for obesity (<30.6%), taking medications for high blood pressure (77.4%)and mammography in the past 2 years (70%). Todos los estados han lograo las metas para la obesidad, tomando medicamentos para la presion, y mammografia en los ultimos 2 anos.

Achievements and shortfalls/Logros y deficiencias No states have met the goals for influenza vaccines and pneumonia vaccines. Ningun estado a logrado las metas para gripe y pneumonia. In Utah and Connecticut 70% of older adults retained their original teeth but in West Virginia only 33.4 % did. En Utah y Connecticut 70% de adultos mayores tienen sus dientes originales pero en Virginia del Oeste solamente 33.4%
