EL TEXTO ARGUMENTATIVO

El texto argumentativo tiene como objetivo expresar opiniones o rebatirlas con el fin de persuadir a un receptor. La finalidad del autor puede ser probar o demostrar una idea (o tesis), refutar la contraria o bien persuadir o disuadir al receptor sobre determinados comportamientos, hechos o ideas. No suele darse en estado puro, suele combinarse con la exposición. Mientras la exposición se limita a mostrar, la argumentación intenta demostrar, convencer o cambiar ideas.

CARACTERÍSTICAS El texto argumentativo presenta La estructura: introducción, desarrollo o cuerpo argumentativo y conclusión. Variedad de tiempos verbales en pasado, presente y futuro. Conectores de contraste, como however, on the other hand, conversely, in spite of, etc. Verbos para transmitir ideas o sentimientos, como believe, think, feel, consider, assume, pressume, suppose. Frases para expresar opinión como in my opinion, from my point of view, as far as I am concerned, I agree with, he may be right, etc. Estadísticas, opiniones de expertos, narración de hechos pasados, referencias a experimentos y estudios, para apoyar o descartar una opinión.

VERBOS SEGUIDOS DE PARTÍCULAS Son verbos seguidos de una o dos palabras –preposiciones o adverbios- que cambian completamente el significado original del verbo: Put: poner Put out: apagar (un incendio o un cigarrillo) Put up with: tolerar Son muy usados en el lenguaje informal o coloquial pero pueden aparecer en textos académicos. El verbo y su partícula pueden encontrarse juntos o separados por un objeto: Turn: doblar Turn off: apagar. Turn your mobile off, please. Turn in: entregar. En algunos casos, la misma forma verbal puede tener más de un significado: Make: hacer Make up: constituir Women make up more than half of the population.  Make up: compensar I will study this weekend to make up for the lost time.  Make up: inventar They made up an excuse for being late. Take: tomar Take after: parecerse a alguien He takes after his mother. Take off: partir The plane took off two hours later.
