Interpretation services How can you request services? What is “limited English proficiency (LEP)?” Interpretation services How can you request services? You can request an interpreter during UW Cooperative Extension events. Limited English proficiency refers to persons who do not speak English as their primary language and/or who have a limited ability to read, write, speak, or understand the English language. If you have difficulties communicating in English, you have a right to request information and services in a language other than English.
