iVESDA User Guide

 Downloadable application that can be installed on Android and iOS handheld devices to monitor and maintain VESDA-E systems with unprecedented ease  Compatible with existing VESDA detectors residing on the same VESDAnet as VESDA-E  Provides detailed alarm, fault and other status information such as smoke trends, airflow, filter life, as well as viewing of important configuration parameters such as pipes in use and smoke alarm thresholds.  Future release of iVESDA will also provide configuration capability for the entire VESDA system as well as event log retrieval. What is iVESDA? © Xtralis Pty. Ltd. ─ Confidential Information 2

How iVESDA Connects  Connectivity between VESDA-E and iVESDA can be established within the protected facility using a standard WiFi network, or remotely via the Internet  Typical topology is where iVESDA, on a handheld device, communicates with the entire VESDAnet via a wireless router, and VESDA-E acts as a gateway into the VESDAnet allowing for backwards compatibility  Before starting iVESDA the following must be prepared and already in place −The target detector must be configured to communicate with a nearby access point −The handheld device that will run iVESDA must also communicate with the same access point −The target detector IP address must be recorded for later use −The target detector password must be known  Refer the VESDA-E Product Guides for details on configuring the detector for WiFi −22077_05_VESDA-E_VEU A10_Product_Guide −22061_06_VESDA-E_VEU-A00_Product_Guide VESDAnet with VEU, VLI, VLC, VLP Wireless Access Point Handheld Device

 With iVESDA the interaction and response to the VESDA detection system is taken to a completely new level of ease and portability  Facility Managers now have a convenient means of monitoring their entire VESDA population for status, alarm, fault and configuration information with a handheld device, without the need for a PC and High Level Interface, no matter where they are located  First Responders can receive live status information to direct immediate response to imminent threats and can monitor any spread of the threat across the VESDA network  Field Service Engineers can obtain system diagnostic and maintenance information before and during a site visit without the need for a local hard wired connection, simplifying and speeding up site visits How iVESDA is Used © Xtralis Pty. Starting iVESDA Start the iVESDA app by tapping on its icon

Starting iVESDA

Connecting to a detector for the first time iVESDA works by connecting to a VEU detector through a WiFi wireless access point. If no detector connection exists then one must be set up. It will be remembered for future use. Tap here to create a new detector connection. NOTE: The following instructions assume that there is already a WiFi connection between the Handheld device and an access point and that the target detector is also connected to the same WiFi access point. If the WiFi connections are not already in place the following will not work.

Connection setup screen

Setting up a connection You should already know the password for the target detector. Enter the password here. Tap ‘Connect’ to start the app You should already have a copy of the IP address for the target detector. Enter the IP address of the detector here. Choose a connection name and fill in here.

Use an existing connection If the handheld device has previously connected to a detector then the connection will be retained. Tap the connection to start the app.
