Regla 3 The verb hacer means “to do” or “to make.” The questions ¿Qué hace Ud? Means “What are you doing? Or “ What do you do?” In Spanish you almost always answer these questions with a different verb. Ex. ¿Qué haces? Yo trabajo en el aeropuerto.

Regla 4 The verb hacer is used in many idiomatic expressions. An idiomatic expression is one that does not translate directly to one language from another. The expression hacer un viaje ( to take a trip) is an idiomatic expression because in Spanish the verb hacer is used whereas in English we use the verb to take. Another expression is hacer la maleta which means “ to pack a suitcase”
