In Spanish, tener + que + the infinitive is used when referencing something that has to be done.

When using tener que + the infinitive, use the following Steps:

1.Conjugate the verb ‘tener’ to agree with the subject.

tener (e to ie) - to have

yo - tengo

tú - tienes

yo - tengo tú - tienes él ella tiene usted

yo - tengo tú - tienes él ella tiene usted nosotros(as)- tenemos

yo - tengo tú - tienes él ella tiene usted nosotros(as)- tenemos vosotros(as)- tenéis

yo - tengo tú - tienes él ella tiene usted nosotros(as)- tenemos vosotros(as)- tenéis ellos ellas tienen ustedes

2. Add the word que. (**Note - This word does not literally translate, it just has to be there as part of the formula.

3. Add the infinitive.
