3 ¿Qué es una agenda escolar? La agenda escolar es un cuaderno diseñado exclusivamente para ayudar a los alumnos a mantener un control escrito de lo asignado por sus maestros (as) durante las clases. También es un medio para que los padres mantengan comunicación directa con el maestro. No solamente lo relacionado con las tareas, sino también acerca de cualquier pregunta o duda que un padre pueda tener sobre su hijo(a). Por ejemplo: comportamiento, asistencia, tardanzas, fechas de exámenes, reuniones escolares, eventos, etc.)

4 What is the school agenda? The school agenda is a notebook exclusively designed to help the students to keep a written control of homework assigned by the teachers in the different classes. It is also a means of communication between parents and teachers. It is not only about homework, but you can also ask any question or concern about your child.For example: behavior, attendance, exam dates, meetings, different events, etc.

5 ¡Cosas importantes para tener en cuenta! Los alumnos deben saber su dirección y teléfono actual. La escuela debe estar SIEMPRE informada de cualquier cambio de dirección, teléfono y tener el número de teléfono del contacto de emergencia. El padre debe saber el nombre del maestro(s) que trabaja(n) directamente con su hijo(a). Los padres deben conocer el horario escolar, días festivos escolares y eventos especiales de la escuela, como también las fechas de exámenes. Los padres deben informarse si hay alguien en la escuela que hable su idioma, si lo hay, los padres deben familiarizarse con esta persona.

6 Important Reminders to have in Mind! The students must know their address and their current telephone numbers. The school must ALWAYS be informed of any address change, any new phone number and must have a phone number of an emergency contact. The parent must know the name of his/her childs teachers who work directly with them. The parents must know their childs schedule, school holidays, special events, as well as the exam dates. The parents must find out if there is someone in the school who speaks Spanish and know who this person is.

7 Protocolo Escolar de Nuestro Condado con respecto a ….. Ausencias Los padres deben llamar a la escuela el día de la ausencia del alumno(a). Una nota escrita debe ser enviada a la escuela el día que el alumno(a) regrese. Las ausencias permitidas son aquellas relacionadas con enfermedad, emergencias familiares, fallecimiento y religiosas. Diferentes medidas serán tomadas por el sistema escolar cuando un alumno(a) tiene ausencias crónicas.

8 Rules to follow concerning ….. Absences The parents must call by phone the day their child is absent. If necessary, a written note must be sent to school the next day with the student. The excused absences must be related to sicknesses, family emergencies, religious holidays, and family death. There will be consequences if the student is often absent without any excuses.

9 ¿Cómo pedir una conferencia con los maestros? Llame (al Sr. Banderas) ó visite la escuela para solicitar una hora y fecha apropiada para reunirse con los maestros. Solicite un intérprete si no habla inglés enviando una nota en español a la escuela o puede traer a un amigo(a) que hable inglés.

10 How to ask for a conference with the teachers? Call (Mr. Banderas) or visit the school to set up a time and date for a conference with the teachers. Ask for an interpreter if you do not speak English sending a note in Spanish or you can also bring a friend who speaks Englsih.

11 Administración de medicinas en la escuela: Una receta médica debe ser presentada. A la escuela no se le permite dar ningún tipo de medicamento a los alumnos. A los alumnos no se les permite tener consigo ningún tipo de medicina, la única excepción es un inhalador para los pacientes de asma recetado por un médico y se le debe informar a la escuela.

12 Administering medicine in the school: A doctors prescription must be presented. The school is not allowed to give any medicine to the students. The students are not allowed to have any medicine with them, the only exception is an inhaler for the students who have asthma and this must be prescribed by a doctor.

13 Pruebas Generales: Cada año escolar los alumnos tomarán varios exámenes que evaluarán sus habilidades y conocimientos.

14 General Exams: Every school year the students will take some exams that will evaluate their knowledge and skills.

15 Escuela Primaria: GKAP: dado a los alumnos de kindergarten, tres veces al año. CRCT: dado a todos los alumnos de 1ro a 5to grado, generalmente en abril. Los alumnos de 3er grado deben pasar la sección de lectura, y los de 5to grado deben pasar lectura y matemáticas para ser promovidos al siguiente grado. ITBS: dado a todos los alumnos en 1ro, 3ro y 5to grado, durante el mes de octubre. CogAT: dado a todos los alumnos en 1ro, 3ro y 5to grado, al final del mes de octubre.

16 Elementary School: GKAP: given to the Kindergarten students three times a year. CRCT: given to the students from 1st to 5th grade, generally in April. The 3rd grade students must pass the reading section and the 5th grade students must pass the reading and the math sections to be promoted to the next school year. ITBS: given to the students in 1st, 3rd and 5th grades, during the month of October. CogAT: given to the students in 1st, 3rd and 5th grades at the end of October.

17 Escuela Intermedia: ITBS: dado a todos los alumnos de 6to a 8vo grado en el mes de octubre. EOCT: dado a todos los alumnos de 6to a 8vo grado, en los meses de diciembre y mayo, antes de que las tarjetas de calificaciones sean enviadas a la casa. CRCT: dado en el mes de abril, después de las vacaciones de primavera a todos los alumnos de 6to a 8vo grado. Los alumnos de octavo grado deben pasar este examen en las áreas de matemáticas y lectura para pasar al siguiente año. PSAT: dado a los alumnos de 8vo grado.

18 Middle School: ITBS: given to the students from 6th to 8th grade in October. EOCT: given to all the students from 6th to 8th grade in December and in May before the progress reports are sent home. CRCT: given in the month of April after Spring break to all the students from 6th to 8th grade. The eighth grade students must pass this test in math and reading to be promoted to the next shool year. PSAT: given to the 8th grade students.

19 Escuela Secundaria: EOCT: dado a los alumnos del 9no. al 12vo. grado, en los meses de diciembre y mayo, antes de enviar las tarjetas de calificaciones a las casas. GHSGT: dado a todos los alumnos en 11vo. grado. PSAT: dado a todos los alumnos de 9no. y 10mo. grado. SAT: dado a todos los alumnos de 12vo. grado.

20 High School: EOCT: given to the students from 9th to 12th grade in the months of December and May before the progress reports are sent home. GHSGT: given to all the students in 11th grade. PSAT: given to all the students in 9th and 10th grade. SAT: given to all the students in 12th grade.
