When do you use IR? Ir means and it’s used to talk about
ir = to go yonosotros nosotras túvosotros vosotras usted él ella ustedes ellos ellas
Ir is always followed by the word a (to). When a is followed by the word el, it combines to make the word al. a + el = al Ex. Yo voy al baño. I’m going to the bathroom.
EJEMPLOS 1. Nosotros ____________ a la cafetería. 2. Jorge ____________ al gimnasio. 3. Yo no ____________ a la enfermería. 4. Ustedes ____________ a la sala de español. 5. Tú ____________ al auditorio.
The Verb IR to Express the Future ir + a + infinitive
The verb ir can be used to talk about what you are going to do by using the following construction:
ir+a+ infinitive voy vamos vas vais va van an unconjugated verb (still ends in –AR, -ER, -IR)
EJEMPLOS 1. I’m going to study for the test. 2. Are you going to answer the teacher? 3. Marta is going to talk on the phone. 4. We’re going to listen to music. 5. The students are going to get good grades. 6. Are y’all going to go to class?
EJEMPLOS 1. Voy a estudiar para el examen. 2. ¿Vas a contestar la maestra (tú)? 3. Marta va a hablar por teléfono. 4. Nosotros vamos a escuchar música. 5. Los estudiantes van a sacar buenas notas. 6. ¿Vais a ir a clase (vosotros)?
