“if” clauses and the conditional tense

¿Qué significan estas frases en inglés? 1. Si tuviera dinero, estaría feliz. If I had money, I would be happy. 2. Si estuviera feliz, tendría una novia. If I were happy, I would have a girlfriend. 3. Mi papá dijo que compraría un carro pero nunca lo compró. My dad said that he would buy a car, but he never bought it. 4. Yo que tú, hablaría con Julia. If I were you, I would talk with Julia. 5. Haría la tarea si tuviera tiempo. I would do the homework if I had time.

There are three ways to use the conditional in Spanish. 1. To express “IF CLAUSES” If I could… I would… Si tuviera dinero, estaría feliz. If I had money, I would be happy. 2. To express what WOULD HAPPEN. Mi papá dijo que compraría el carro pero nunca lo compró. My dad said he would buy the car but he never bought it. 3. To express “PROBABILITY” (same as future tense) Mi abuela tendría unos veinte años cuando conoció a mi abuelo. My grandma was probably about twenty years old when she met my grandpa.
