This week our class will be focusing on how technology leads to creative ideas. We will be discussing how scientific investigation and invention can lead to new tools, technologies, and products. Comprehension: sequencing Your child will interview and record events from the life of someone they know. Your child will then put the events s/he has written down in correct sequence by writing a short biography of the person. Here are some activities you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing. Words to Know: Greek roots Your child can write a paragraph, using all the vocabulary words, about a person who invents something. Spelling/Phonics: r-controlled vowels You will read two spelling words, and your child will indicate whether the words have the same vowel sound. Then you will work together to identify the letters that stand for each vowel sound. Please, return the bottom section of the attached Parent-Teacher Conference letter complete and signed as soon as possible. MAP testing will continue this week. Please, make sure your child gets a good night sleep and eats a well-balanced breakfast in the morning. Results will be shared at parent-teacher conferences. Students should read only chapter books as part of our AR program.
