3 BACKGROUND O THE REGIONAL PROJECT FOR EDUCATION INDICATORS El PRIE se crea en 1998 con el propósito de hacer seguimiento a las metas educativas a 2010 establecidas en el marco de la Cumbre de las Américas. El PRIE ha contribuido en el fortaleciendo los sistemas nacionales de información educativa, mejorando la disponibilidad y uso de información estadística en la formulación, seguimiento y evaluación de la política educativa. El PRIE ha fomentado un entendimiento del estado de la educación, de los retos y logros en los países de la Cumbre de las Américas.

4 INITIAL GOALS OF THE PROJECT Generar sinergia entre organizaciones internacionales, países y proyectos, con el fin de evitar que este proyecto se convierta en una iniciativa paralela. Mantener la comunicación entre los países de la región, fortalecer la cooperación horizontal y establecer bases para trabajar con consenso. Apoyar la construcción de indicadores de educación y fortalecer la recolección de dados e información para permitir que los indicadores sean comparables en la región. Mejorar los sistemas de estadísticas de educación en la región, coordinando esfuerzos y evitando duplicidades que sobrecarguen las equipos técnicas nacionales y que resulte en informaciones contradictorias.

6 COORDINATION PROPOSAL COLOMBIA 2011 - 2014 COORDINATION PROPOSAL COLOMBIA 2011 - 2014 To ensure continuity of follow-up of the goals agreed upon at the Summit of the Americas, conducting a final assessment that would make it possible to quantify the results achieved in the framework of the project. Likewise, it is aimed at building up and harmonizing the information systems of each country, for the purpose of contributing to the building and consolidation of a comparable system of indicators for the region, which would makeit possible to evaluate the progress made by the countries in fulfillling international commitments such as those of the Millennium Development Goals to 2015 y the OEI 2021 education goals. 7 SPECIFIC GOALS OF THE PROJECT Construir y consolidar un sistema de indicadores educativos comparable que permita evaluar la calidad de los sistemas educativos de los países en todas sus dimensiones y realizar seguimiento a los diferentes compromisos internacionales vigentes en materia de educación Apoyar técnicamente a los países miembros en el diseño y consolidación de sistemas de información robustos que sirvan como insumo para la generación de información estadística para la toma de decisiones, la formulación, seguimiento y evaluación de la política educativa Promover el uso de la información estadística generada, presentando en forma periódica diagnósticos de los sistemas educativos de la región

Construcción y consolidación de los sistemas de indicadores Diseño de estrategia de intervención a partir del diagnóstico de la fase III – Conformación de grupos de países por nivel de desarrollo de sus sistemas de información 2. Cooperación técnica – Implementación y fortalecimiento de los sistemas de información Elaboración de informe final con la evaluación de los avances en el logro de las metas 2010 - Panorama Educativo Elaboración de informes de seguimiento metas ODM 2015 y OEI 2021 Mantenimiento y actualización página WEB del PRIE 3. Difusión y análisis de los indicadores Monitoreo y seguimiento – Evaluación de los resultados del proyecto mediante el uso de herramientas cuantitativas y cualitativas 4. Evaluación y seguimiento
