1 Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano Academic Department New Policy about Absences & Tardiness

2 Objective To inform students of the new policies regarding absences and tardiness.

3 Dear Students, As of this term, there is a change on the way how teachers are going to evaluate attendance to classes, and it is very important that you know this new policy as soon as possible.

4 Remember that it is definitely not a good idea that you miss classes. If you really want to learn a language, you have to attend classes every single day.

5 Every time that you miss classes, you will waste a considerable and valuable amount of time and the opportunity to practice the language, which is very difficult to do outside the class.

6 From now on, any CCCN student will be allowed to miss ONLY ONE SESSION PER TERM, and no points will be deducted from this absence. After that, whenever students are late or absent, following will be the percentage they will miss:

7 If a course is taught ONCE a week, students will lose 2.5% for every tardiness 5% for every justified absence 5% for every unjustified absence

8 If a course is taught TWICE a week, students will lose 2% for every tardiness 2% for every justified absence 3.3% for every unjustified absence

9 If a course is taught THRICE a week, students will lose 1.5% for every tardiness 1.2% for every justified absence 2.5% for every unjustified absence

10 We hope that you become more aware of the importance of attending classes in order to have more chance to practice this language, which you will need for the future.

12 Objetivo Informar a l@s estudiantes sobre las políticas referentes a llegadas tardías y ausencias

13 Estimad@s estudiantes, A partir de este período, habrá un cambio en la forma como l@s profesores/as evaluarán la asistencia a clases, y es muy importante que usted conozca estas reglas lo más pronto posible.

14 Recuerde que, definitivamente, no es una buena idea que usted pierda clases. Si usted realmente quiere aprender un idioma, usted debe asistir a clases todos los días.

15 Cada vez que usted no venga clases, perderá una considerable cantidad de tiempo valioso y la oportunidad de practicar este idioma, lo cual es muy difícil lograr fuera de clases.

16 A partir de este momento, cualquier estudiante del Centro Cultural podrá faltar SÓLO UNA SESIÓN POR PERÍODO sin que implique una pérdida o rebajo de puntos en su nota. Luego de eso, cada vez que lleguen tarde o no asistan a clases, pederán estos porcentajes:

17 Si las clases se imparten UNA vez a la semana, los estudiantes perderán 2.5% por cada llegada tardía 5% por cada ausencia (justificada o injustificada)

18 Si las clases se imparten DOS veces a la semana, los estudiantes perderán 2% por cada llegada tardía y por cada ausencia justificada 3.3% por cada ausencia injustificada.

19 Si las clases se imparten TRES veces a la semana, los estudiantes perderán 1.5% por cada llegada tardía 1.2% por cada ausencia justificada 2.5% por cada ausencia injustificada.

20 Esperamos que usted sea mas consciente de la importancia de asistir a clases con el fin de tener mas chances de practicar este idioma, el cual usted necesitará en el futuro.
