3 Helping with Homework Como Ayudar a Su Hijo En La Tarea Homework is a critical long-term- role in the development of children’s achievement and motivation La tarea es una parte critica de largo plazo en el desarrollo de la motivación y logro del estudiante

4 Have a regular place for homework. Tenga un lugar regular donde su hijo/a pueda hacer su tarea. Use a desk or table Have a quiet room Be sure there is plenty of light Use un escritorio o una mesa en un cuarto donde no haya ruido asegúrese que aya suficiente luz

5 Find a regular time for homework. Asigne una hora fija para la tarea.  Choose a time that works best for you (the adult) and the child  Be sure it is not too late  Escoja un tiempo cuando sea mejor para usted (el adulto) y el niño asegúrese que no sea muy tarde

6 Minimize Distractions. Disminuya las Distracciones. You may want to make a rule, No TV until homework is finished. Eating a snack might be helpful Quizás quiera hacer unas reglas, no televisión hasta que termine la tarea. Comiendo algo puede ayudar

11 Offer to quiz your child. Hágale pruebas a su hijo/a. On spelling words, use of flash cards are great to review for quizzes En las palabras de de-letrear (spelling words) Use tarjetas que tengan letras, palabras, o numeros para ayudar a su hijo a estudiar

12 Read to your child. Léale a su hijo.  Niños mayores también benefician de que alguien les lea, libros o periódico  Lea en so idioma, ellos benefician de que les lean no importa el idioma  Older children also benefit from having someone read to them  Read to your child in your language, they benefit from all reading

13 Set a good example. Ponga un buen ejemplo. Help your child assemble needed homework materials Talk about what they have accomplished when they are finished Ayude a su hijo a juntar los materiales que necesite para la tarea cuando este asiendo la tarea y cuando termine la tarea hablen acerca de lo que han terminado y logrado

14 Encourage your child to study. Anime a su hijo a que estudie.  Each night instead of just the night before the test  With a sibling, or you can call out items for a test  Todas las noches no solamente la noche antes del examen  Estudie con un hermano o hermana o usted ayúdele a estudiar

15 Contact the Teacher. Comuníquese con la maestra. If you feel like your child does not understand the assignments or cannot do the homework, be sure to let the teacher know Si usted piensa que su hijo no entiende lo que tiene que hacer de tarea, hable con la maestra
