2 En Lucas 18 hay dos parábolas... There are two parables in Luke 18...
1. La viuda persistente. Luke 18:1-8. 1. The persistant widow. Luke 18:1-8. 2. Y nuestra parábola de esta tarde. 2. And our parable for this afternoom. Nuestra parábola ha sido llamada: Our parable has been called:

3 El Fariseo y el Publicano. The Pharisee and the tax collector.
Y en esta tarde Jesús nos quiere ayudar a cómo orar bien a Dios: And in this afternoon Jesus is going to teach us how to pray to God. ¿Hay que saber orar? Do we have to know how to pray?

4 Lucas 18:9-14 9A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos, y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola: 10Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno era fariseo, y el otro publicano. 11El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano; 12ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano. 13Mas el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador. 14Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido.

5 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'
Luke 18:9-14. Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

6 Analizando la parábola: Analyzing the parable:
El Ser nos habla de dos hombres diferentes. Jesus is showing us two different men. 10Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno era fariseo, y el otro publicano. "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ¿Por qué al templo? Why the temple?

7 ¿Cuál era ese templo? What was the temple?
Sin duda, era el que herodes les había construído... Without a doubt, it was the one Herod built for them...

8 Jesús describe los dos hombres. Jesus describes the two men.
Dos personas totalmente opuestas. Two totally different people.

9 ¿Quién comienza orando? Who starts praying? El fariseo. The Pharisee.
Jesús habla de dos oraciones distintas... Jesus speaks about two different prayers. ¿Quién comienza orando? Who starts praying? El fariseo. The Pharisee. ¿Oraban los Fariseos? Did the Pharisees pray?

10 Una oración vana. A vain prayer.
11El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano; 12ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 11 ¡Qué lastima ser tan ciegos! What a pity to be so blind!
Y, ¿Cómo eran los otros hombres? And how were the other men? ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, extortioners, unjust, adulterers ¡Qué lastima ser tan ciegos! What a pity to be so blind! Mateo 23:12-36. ¿Quiénes eran los ladrones, injustos, adúlteros de acuerdo a Jesús? Who were the extortioners, unjust, adulterers according to Jesus?

12 Ayuno dos veses... I fast twice a week... y, ¿Quién se lo pedía?
"Con esta actitud, el fariseo demuestro el desprecio por los demás" "With this attitude, the pharisee shows the despisement they have for the others" Luego pasa a enumerar sus "buenas obras" Later he start counting his "good deeds" 12ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' Ayuno dos veses... I fast twice a week... y, ¿Quién se lo pedía? And, who ask him for it? Lev.16:29.

13 y, ¿Quién pedía eso? And, who ask for it? ¿Qué pedía la ley?
Doy diezmos de TODO lo que gano. I gave tithes of all that I posess. y, ¿Quién pedía eso? And, who ask for it? ¿Qué pedía la ley? What did the law ask for? Solo algunas cosas... Granos de la tierra. Only some things... Crops of the harvest. Deut.14:22-23.

14 Estando lejos... Standing far off... El turno es del Publicano.
The turn is for the tax collector. 13Mas el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador. And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' Estando lejos... Standing far off...

15 No quería ni ver al cielo... He di not rise his eyes to heaven...
¿Cuál era el gran dolor que le embargaba? What was the big pain in this man life? ¿Oía lo que el Fariseo pedía? Did he heard the Pharisee pray?

16 El veredicto de Jesús fue: Jesus veredict was:
Ahora Jesús nos presenta dos resultados distintos... Now Jesus presents to us to different results... 14Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." El veredicto de Jesús fue: Jesus veredict was: Inocente... Inocent...

17 Humillarnos ante Dios.. Be humble before God.. Salmos 32:1-2. Psalm
Para recibir esta veredicto tenemos que: To recive this kind of veredict we need: Humillarnos ante Dios.. Be humble before God.. Este hombre recibió la bendición de David mncionada en: These man recive the blessing that David mention in: Salmos 32:1-2. Psalm

18 Because he did not humilate himself!
Jesús dice que el farsiseo se fue a su casa vacío.. Jesus is telling us that the Pharisee went to his house empty.. ¡¡No recibió bendición!! He didn't recive any blessiong!! ¿Por qué? Why? ¡Porque NO se humilló! Because he did not humilate himself!

19 Delante de Dios necesitamos humillarnos!!
Before God we need to humble our selves!! Luke 18:9; Luke 18:14. El significado y propósitos son claros en esta parábola.. The meaning and purpose are clear in these parable..

20 La aplicación de la parábola... The aplication of the parable...
9A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos, y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola: Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Jesus nos advierte sobre: Jesus warned us about: La justicia propia. Self Righteous.

21 El fariseo confiaba en sus buenas obras...
The pharisee trust in his good deeds... Diezmar!! Give the Tithes!! Ayunar!! Fasting!! Hubiera sido mejor recordar lo que Isaías dijo: It will be better to remember what Isaiah said: Isaiah 64:6.

22 Como cristianos es mejor recordar las palabras que Jesús ya nos dijo en:
As a christian it is much better to remember what Jesus already said: Luke:17:10... So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. Así también vosotros, cuando hayáis hecho todo lo que os ha sido ordenado, decid: Siervos inútiles somos, pues lo que debíamos hacer, hicimos. Luego es bueno recordar tambien. Then it is good to remeber also. Titus 3:3-5. Efes.2:8-10.

23 Jesús nos advierte sobre la arrogancia!!
Jesus also warned us about arrogance!! Los fariseos despreciaban a todo el mundo.. The Pharisees dispised all man.. Bueno es recordar todo las palabras de Salomón en: It is good for all of us to remember Solomon's words in: Proverbios 8:13; 16:18; 29:23.

24 Como cristianos, tenemos prohíbo actuar arrogantemente.
As a christian it is prohibited for us to act with arrogance. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. 1Porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será enaltecido. Luke 14:11 Santiago 2:1-9.

25 Isaías dijo: 57:15; 66:1-2. Isaiah said:
En esta parábola Jesús nos ha enseñado en valor de la humildad.. In these parable Jesus has teach us about the importance of humble our selfs.. No debemos tratar de impresionar a Dios con cosas que no sentimos. We must NOT try to impress God with something that we don't have.. Isaías dijo: Isaiah said: 57:15; 66:1-2. Nuestra humildad debe salir del corazón y no de algo pretendido... Are humbleness must come from our hearts and not from a pretend humbleness..

26 Recordemos estos dos hombres: Let's remember these two men:
Uno oraba porque quería perdón. One prays because he need the forgivness. El otro, porque se quería justificar delante de Dios. The other one, just because he want to justify himself before God. Y, ¿Nosotros? How about us?

27 ¡Claro! Of Couse! 1 Juan 1:8-10. Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.
¿Necesitamos nosotros del perdón de Dios? Do we need the forgiveness of God? ¡Claro! Of Couse! 1 Juan 1:8-10. Entonces oremos como el cobrador de impuestos.. Then let's all pray like the tax collector... Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador. 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'
